Disabled people don’t have to pay VAT (20%) on disabled equipment for personal use. Equipment like wheelchairs, adjustable beds, stairlifts etc.

If you’re on Universal Credit or have low income due to disability, you can fill in the EX160 form. This removes the cost of family court or civil court fees.

NHS Free Prescriptions
Certain benefits (usually income related) will give you free NHS medication, dental work and eye tests.
Just explain you’re exempt and what your reason for exemption at the counter.

NHS Low Income Scheme (HC2/HC3)
If you are on low income but not on benefits, you can fill in a HC1 form. The NHS will decide if you need to pay for NHS medication, dental work and eye tests. These are known as HC2/HC3 certificates.

If you regularly collect medication but don’t qualify for free prescriptions, a PPC can help with prescription costs.

If you are registered as sight-impaired, Royal Mail can provide free, 1st Class postage for sending specific accessible items, literature, and assistive equipment.
